HOUSTON AUTO SALES has been a member of the National Independent Automobile Dealership Association (NIADA), Texas Independent Automobile Dealership Association (TIADA), and Houston Independent Automobile Dealership Association (HIADA) for over 11 years.

Rusty Canterbury has been bestowed the honor of HIADA Quality Dealer 2000, TIADA Quality Dealer 2001, and has been nominated for the upcoming 2002 NIADA Quality Dealer Award. Rusty is the past 2001 President of HIADA and has served the local association as 2000 Vice President of Special Memberships, 1998 Board Member, and 1997 Director. He is currently Chairman of the Board. He has been a 1998 Board Member of the Education Committee and a 2001 Director of TIADA, and is currently a Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee for Finance and a Co-chairman of the Education Committee.

Houston Auto Service was founded in 1951 by William "Bill" Morris Canterbury. In the 1970's, Bill received his auto dealer’s license and began selling cars as a supplement to the service department. Rusty Canterbury bought the business from Bill in 1989, sized down the service department, and focused solely on the business of selling quality pre-owned vehicles. In 2001, Rusty changed the name of the Dealership from Houston Auto Service to Houston Auto Sales.

Houston Auto Sales has a reputation of being fair and honest. We give individuals a chance to purchase a vehicle who might not otherwise be able to because of their poor credit or other extenuating circumstances. Most of Houston Auto Sales’s customers live in the community and have known Rusty Canterbury since he was a child. They know that Rusty acquired his father’s honesty, empathy, and ability to make a person feel like they are truly important. Customer satisfaction is important to Houston Auto Sales and this is the reason why his customers keep coming back to us for their vehicle needs.
